The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mrs Adesola Elegbeji has been declared winner of the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency bye-election.
The declaration was made by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Mrs Elegbeji will occupy the vacant seat of Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, which became vacant following the death of the former occupant, Mrs. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, who died in January during a brief illness.
Announcing the result, Returning Officer, Dr. Kazeem Bello, stated that Mrs Elegbeji polled 41,237 votes to defeat her rival, who scored 14,324 votes on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP while the African Democratic Congress ,ADC recorded 289 votes.
The election was conducted across the three local government areas of the constituency of Ikenne, Sagamu and Remo North covering all registered polling units.
