Former Governor of Ondo State Olusegun Mmiko has denied rumours circulating in some quarters hat he has been chosen to head former President Goodluck Jonathan’s 2027 presidential consultation team in Southwest Nigeria.

It was fabricated that Mimiko had been chosen to lead the consultations in anticipation of a potential political maneuver by the former president.

In a statement released in Akure, the secretary to the former governor Eni Akinsola, described the report as unfounded, falsehood and a fabricated rumor masquerading as news.

The statement also stated that Rauf Aregbesola, the former governor of Osun State and current National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), recommended Mimiko for the position.

The former governor in response to the fabricated news noted that he had never been approached or assigned to any campaign activities, emphasizing that he was not seeking a role in leading any campaign

The inaccuracies in the report are evident from the start. It’s merely a journalist’s attempt to pass off fabricated rumors as legitimate news.

The former governor of Ondo state further stated in the statement that as the country approaches political eras , unfounded stories will likely proliferate, particularly about political figures such as “Iroko”who has temporarily chosen to stay out of politics
