Oyo state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has vowed to conduct local government elections before the expiration of his administration.
He stated this while inaugurating members of the Oyo state Independent Electoral Commission at the Executive Chambers of the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Ibadan.
The governor who noted that the tenure of the current chairmen across 33 councils in the state would expire in May, 2027 said he was not afraid of the opposition parties in the state.
Governor Makinde noted that members of the newly inaugurated Oyo state independent electoral Commission were people of integrity and urged them to be transparent in the task ahead to move the state forward.
Members of the OYSIEC are Adebiyi Babatunde, chairman, Olatunde Theophilus, Chief Kunmi Agboola, and Mr Sunday Falana.
Others are Remi Ayoade, Olarenwaju Emmanuel, Babatunde Ige and Adebayo Mariam.
