The Oyo State Mobilisation Agency for Socio Economic Development (OYMASED) has urged Oyo residents to adhere to the law and maintain cleanliness during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The Director General (DG) of the Agency, Dr Morohunkola Thomas stated this in a statement issued in Ibadan.
“According to him,there is a lot of vehicular movement during the festive period, hence the need for road users to exercise caution and obey traffic laws at each junction.
He also emphasized the importance of proper waste disposal, urging residents to avoid indiscriminate dumping of refuse on roads, medians and drainage systems.
He said the state government has provided waste disposal facilities across the state, and the government will not hesitate to prosecute those who float the law.
He emphasized that improper waste disposal can lead to health hazards, such as cholera outbreaks and flooding.
While cautioning drivers against reckless driving,the DG stated that accidents and loss of life can be averted if drivers are more careful”.Statement reads.
Dr. Thomas wishes everyone a merry Christmas and a prosperous 2026 while reminding residents that there were laws and penalties for improper waste disposal and reckless driving, and those found guilty will face the full wrath of the law.
