The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja has appealed the Federal Government to help solve the ecological problems affecting Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital.
Oba Ladoja made the plea when he visited the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Senator George Akume in his Office in Abuja.
According to the statement issued and signed by his Media Aide, Chief Adeola Oloko, the Olubadan who is the Chairman, Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs acknowledged the previous interventions of the Federal Government and World Bank on Ogunpa channelisation.
The royal father, however, added that Ogunpa ecological problem gained more prominence because the areas affected are elitist areas stretching from Mokola, Ekotedo, Ogunpa, Oke Ado to Molete.
He therefore requested the assistance of the Federal Government to help solve the ecological problems threatening his subjects living around Oranyan, Kudeti Agbongbon and some other parts of the ancient city.
Olubadan maintained that what the people residing in the areas encounter during the rainy season is worrisome and devastating, hence the need for urgent intervention from the Federal Government.
Responding, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume said he was not surprised that Oba Ladoja could come all the way from Ibadan to Abuja to bring the attention of the Federal Government to the plight of his people, saying, the Olubadan has always been a man of the people.
He promised that request of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja would be granted by the Federal Government.
Oba Ladoja was accompanied by the Senator representing Oyo North, Dr Fatai Buhari and his counterpart from Oyo South who is also the Ekarun Balogun of Ibadanland, Dr. Sharafadeen Alli.
