No Plans To Rotate Chairmanship Of Traditional Council – Osun Assembly

The Osun State House of Assembly has cleared the air on reports circulating on social media over plans to rotate the chairmanship of the traditional council in the state.

In a statement by the Speaker, Prince Adewale Egbedun, through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Olamide Tiamiyu, the House refuted the claims.

The House described as untrue, the recent post on a Facebook page identified as “Ashiwaju Omo Yoruba,” which suggested that the legislature was considering correspondence on the matter.

The State Assembly also retierated its resolve to protect its institutional integrity against misinformation, fake news and malicious falsehoods.

It clarified that the claim was unconnected to the activities of the Assembly and misinformation of such could undermine public confidence in democratic institutions, if left unchecked.

The statement reads “there has been no communication submitted to, received by, or acknowledged within the legislative chamber regarding the rotation of chairmanship among traditional rulers in the state.”

” No committee of the House, including the Committee on Chieftaincy Matters, has discussed or scheduled deliberations on such an issue.” it adds.
