Ola Town in Ejigbo Local Government Area of Osun State was awash with political excitement as over five hundred loyalists of the All Progressives Congress (APC) trooped out to welcome their illustrious son, Chief (Dr) Peter Taiwo Ogundeji, popularly known as “APATA,” who is aspiring for the Senate ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
Ola, the birthplace of Chief Ogundeji, is one of the ancient towns in Ejigbo Local Government Area, located in Ward 6 alongside other historic communities such as Agunrodo and Aye. The visit provided an opportunity to reconnect with grassroots supporters and reaffirm the town’s place in the evolving political narrative of Osun West.
The gathering formed part of a rally and sensitisation tour across Ward 6, conducted through a house-to-house outreach tagged “APATA for AMBO Walk-to-Live.” The exercise aimed to mobilise support and deepen voter awareness ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
The APATA for AMBO Walk-to-Live sensitisation tour, organised by the APATA Movement, Chief Ogundeji’s political structure, was personally led by the philanthropist and politician, alongside prominent party leaders. It will be recalled that APATA, an aspirant for the Osun West Senatorial District, recently collapsed his political machinery into that of the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), to strengthen the party’s chances in the August poll.
During the walk, members of the movement visited leaders of various compounds and APC party executives across Ola, Agunrodo, Aye and neighbouring towns, carrying messages of hope, continuity and better days ahead, while canvassing support for Oyebamiji’s governorship ambition.
Speaking at the event, a party leader in Ola Town, Chief James Oladoye, described “APATA” as “a philanthropist of note who has empowered numerous youths across Ward 6, even as a private citizen.” He expressed confidence that, “by the grace of God and with the support of the people,” Chief Ogundeji would do even more when elected as Senator.
Corroborating this, Mr Wole Olajire, also known as “Africa,” explained that the Walk-to-Live exercise was designed to sensitise the public on the importance of possessing a Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC), mobilise support for the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), and formally present Chief (Dr) Peter Taiwo Ogundeji (APATA) as a Senate hopeful ahead of 2027.
Addressing members of the movement, the Olola of Ola, Oba Johnson Oyewale Ajiboye, commended Chief Ogundeji for his positive contributions to community development and assured him of the unwavering support of his subjects, while offering prayers for his success in the upcoming elections.
In his remarks, the leader of the team and host, Chief Ogundeji, stated that the primary purpose of the exercise was to mobilise massive grassroots support for the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the August 8 governorship election. He also urged eligible voters without a PVC to promptly visit the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) offices for registration.
In a major boost to education and human capital development, Chief Ogundeji announced the provision of free JAMB forms for 1,000 students and pledged to sponsor qualified students from 100 level to final year in tertiary institutions, covering courses such as Nursing, Geometric Survey and other critical disciplines—an intervention widely applauded by participants.
The rally further reinforced APATA’s growing grassroots appeal and the strengthening alliance within the APC, as supporters expressed optimism that the movement would translate into electoral success for the party in both the 2026 and 2027 contests.
