Critical stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the outer city geo-politcal zone of Oyo state have eulogized the leadership of the party for the successful conduct of Ward, Local Government Area and State Congresses in the state despite many challenges which threatened the exercise.
The stakeholders which comprised eminent leaders and chieftains of the Party were drawn from Akinyele, Egbeda, Ido, Lagelu, Oluyole and Ona-Ara local government areas. They converged on Tuesday at the new Ife Road, Ibadan Secretariat of the APC in Egbeda LGA for their quarterly meeting which was first in 2026.
In a communique issued at the end of the meeting and signed by the duo of Alhaji Kamorudeen Ajisafe, JP (Chairman) and Bashorun Buliaminu Ogundele (Secretary), the stakeholders made an appeal to the national leadership of the APC to review the zoning arrangement used for the last National Convention with a view to addressing the “evident marginalization of Oyo state in the distribution of National Executive Committee positions.
“A few months ago, the fear from many quarters about the possibility of another round of controversy emanating from the planned congresses was palpable and this was as a result of previous experiences of 2018 and 2022. Now that the congresses are over, naysayers and doubting Thomases have been placed where they rightfully belonged. Oyo APC emerged stronger and better focused after the whole exercise.
“This laudable feat could not have been achieved without the display of maturity and decorum by the leadership of the Party following the recommendation of consensus from the national Secretariat. It is on record that the congresses were conducted without any incident of violence across the 351 Wards and 33 Local Government Areas. To this end, all leaders, members and supporters of our great Party deserve kudos for their individual and collective roles.
“More importantly, we use this medium to congratulate the former deputy governor of the state, Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo, on his emergence as the new State Chairman while we assure him and his team of our maximum cooperation and support to facilitate the realization of the goals and objectives set for 2027 and beyond. We also charged the new chairman to look into the few cases of disagreement in some local government areas dispassionately with a view to addressing the issues once and for all.
“On the last note, it is imperative for the national leadership of our great Party to look into the lopsidedness noticeable in the zoning of offices and positions in both the South West Zonal and National Executive Committee levels. Oyo state has enormous voting size and population as well as the human resources which should earn her better positions in the scheme of things. We call for justice and fairness before it is too late”. The communique concluded.
