In a bid to bring an expansion to the Nigeria Police Academy Wudil,Kano State , President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given an approval for the establishment of a new campus in Erinja, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Special adviser to the president on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
Bayo Onanuga said the president also approved a special take-off grant of N15 billion for the new police academy in Ogun State
Mr. Bayo who said the approval is in line with the provisions of the Nigeria Police Academy (Establishment) Act, 2021, noted that the N15 billion intervention fund will be drawn from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TetFund) 2026 allocation earmarked for the development of priority infrastructure, academic facilities, student accommodation, and core training assets.
He said the new campus in Erinja followed the recommendation of a high-level consultative meeting that included the Minister of Police Affairs, the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, officials of the Federal Ministry of Education, the Inspector-General of Police, and other sister stakeholders
Mr Bayo Onanuga maintained that the meeting took into cognisance account of student intake capacity, available funding, academic quality assurance, and the growing manpower needs of the Nigerian Police Force.
