Femi Fulani Gives FRCN Ibadan Face Lift In The First 100 Days

Since taking the helm as Zonal Director of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Ibadan Zonal Station, on January 27, 2026, Mr. Olufemi Fulani has hit the ground running.

In just one hundred days, his administration has moved from transition to transformation, marking a period defined by infrastructure recovery, strategic partnerships, and a renewed sense of professional pride.

Top of the agenda for the new leadership was the restoration of basic operational stability. For a broadcasting house, power is life. Under Mr. Fulani’s direction, the station successfully negotiated a reconnection with the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), ending a period of energy instability. To further insulate the station against outages, the management procured a new 20KVA diesel generator, ensuring that the station’s “On Air” sign stays lit regardless of the national grid’s fluctuations.

Recognizing that a corporation is only as strong as its relationships, the Zonal Director has embarked on a whirlwind of high-level consultations. In three months, the station has played host to or visited key institutions, including:The Olubadan of Ibadan Land,The Nigerian Army (2 Division),INEC, FRSC, and NSCDC,NIHORT and the Oyo State Government (OYSG).

Beyond modern state actors, Mr. Fulani has reached back into the corporation’s history, consulting with former management staff to bridge the gap between institutional memory and future innovation.

A landmark achievement of this first century of days is the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Rotary Club of Ibadan. This partnership is set to upgrade the station’s clinic, providing enhanced healthcare services not just for FRCN staff, but for the wider Dugbe community. This move underscores a leadership philosophy that prioritizes the human element of the workforce.

The listener experience has not been forgotten. Mr. Fulani has spearheaded the remodeling of programming on Premier FM, introducing fresh content designed to compete in today’s fast-paced media landscape. These changes are already yielding results, with increased listener engagement and a sharper competitive edge in the regional market.

Perhaps the most significant, though intangible, achievement is the shift in staff morale. By ensuring FM stations are adequately funded and adopting an inclusive leadership style, Mr. Fulani has replaced uncertainty with confidence.

As the “Journey So Far” hits the 100-day mark, the consensus among stakeholders is one of cautious optimism. The foundation has been laid, not with mere rhetoric, but with diesel engines, signed MoUs, and restored power lines. If the first hundred days are a blueprint for the future, FRCN Ibadan is well on its way to reclaiming its pride of place in Nigerian broadcasting.
