Oyo Police Debunks Curfew Rumour In Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command has dismissed reports claiming that a curfew or movement restriction has been imposed in Ibadan and other parts of the state.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Command described the reports circulating in some quarters as false and misleading, assuring residents that there is no security situation warranting panic or apprehension.

The police stated that movement of persons and vehicles within and outside Ibadan remains unrestricted, adding that residents should continue with their normal daily activities without fear.

According to the Command, adequate security measures have already been put in place across the state, with officers and operatives strategically deployed to ensure the safety of lives and property.

The police also warned individuals and groups against spreading rumours, false information, or unverified security reports capable of causing unnecessary fear and emotional distress among the public. The Command stressed that anyone found involved in such acts would be investigated and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

Residents were further advised to rely only on verified information released through the office of the Police Public Relations Officer and official media platforms of the Command whenever there is any security directive or emergency measure.

The Command, however, urged members of the public to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and continue cooperating with security agencies in efforts aimed at sustaining peace and public order across Oyo State.
