The Federal Government has said it is intensifying efforts to secure the release of teachers, students and pupils abducted at Esinele, Yawota and other neighbouring communities in Oriire local government of Oyo State just as it sent security and government officials to Ogbomoso to engage affected communities and families of the victims.
The delegation was on Saturday led by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and included the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, and the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.
During the visit, the officials met with community leaders, local stakeholders and relatives of those abducted, assuring them of the Federal Government’s efforts and commitment to ensuring the safe return of all victims still in captivity.
Sources at the meeting said discussions were centred on ongoing security operations, intelligence gathering and collaboration with local communities to facilitate the rescue efforts and prevent similar incidents in the future.
The presence of top government and security officials in the area underscores the seriousness with which authorities are treating the incident, amid growing pressure from citizens for decisive action against criminal activities targeting schools and rural communities.
