As Osun state Governorship election approaches , Civil society groups, National Association of Nigerian Students and other stakeholders in Osun State, have called for the replacement of the present commissioner of police in Osun State Mr. Ibrahim Gotan by the Inspector General of Police, Mr.Olatunji Disu.
The CSOs and other bodies under the umbrella, Network of Civil Society Groups who on Monday embarked on peaceful protest in Osogbo raised concerns over alleged partiality and partisanship by Mr. Gotan.
They maintained that the state commissioner of police has failed toe maintain the core value of effective policing while decrying the conduct of Mr Gotan as unprofessional
The protesters converged at the Freedom Park , carried placards, moved round major locations in the state capital including Old Garage, Oke-Fia and Olaiya.
They were sighted with various inscriptions displayed on placards “Protest Against Insecurity and Police Partiality in Osun,” “Ibrahim Gotan Must Go,” “The Osun Commissioner of Police is Bias,” among other grievances.
