The Nigeria Police, Oyo State Command has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that one Mrs. Kuburat Omowumi and her son, who were abducted at Igbope on June 16, 2026, have been rescued.
In a statement made available to newsmen by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, describes the claim as false, unfounded and misleading.
The Statement stresses that, there has been no confirmed release of the victims as alleged in the online reports.
The PPRO in the statement said, the Police have intensified intelligence-driven and operational efforts in collaboration with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders to ensure safe release of the abducted victims and apprehend those responsible for the crime.
The Command, however, warned that the spread of unverified information could create confusion, fuel false narratives and undermine ongoing rescue operations.
The PPRO, therefore, urged members of the public to rely solely on official channels for updates, adding that provision of any useful information that could assist security agencies in their efforts to rescue the victims and ensure justice would be welcome.
