The All Progressives Congress, APC, Governorship Candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has reiterated his commitment to delivering quality infrastructure that will drive sustainable development, economic growth, and improved living standards across the State.
In a statement made available to Newsmen, Senator Alli emphasized that infrastructure remains the backbone of a prosperous, secure, and economically vibrant society, noting that roads, schools, hospitals, water facilities, and other public assets are critical investments that must positively impact the lives of citizens.
According to him, infrastructure development should not be assessed merely by the number of projects commissioned but by their quality, durability, safety, and long-term economic benefits.
He stressed that every kobo of public funds invested in infrastructure must deliver measurable value to taxpayers, adding that the people of Oyo State deserve projects executed according to the highest standards of engineering excellence, professionalism, transparency, and accountability.
The APC Governorship Candidate also called on residents to play active roles in governance by demanding transparency and monitoring public projects to ensure they are executed according to approved specifications and within budget.
“Good governance thrives when citizens are actively involved. The responsibility of the people does not end with attending project commissioning ceremonies. Citizens must continuously ask critical questions and demand accountability from those entrusted with public resources,” he stated.
Senator Alli further advocated stronger collaboration between government and stakeholders, including community leaders, professional bodies, transport unions, market associations, youth groups, and civil society organisations, to monitor public projects and improve service delivery.
He maintained that contractors responsible for poorly executed projects should be held accountable and compelled to rectify defects at their own expense, while public officials overseeing projects must be transparent and committed to enforcing quality standards and contractual obligations.
Outlining his vision for Oyo State, Senator Alli said his administration would be anchored on transparency, accountability, excellence, and responsible leadership.
He pledged to strengthen public procurement processes, institutionalise independent quality assurance mechanisms, and ensure that infrastructure investments align with the state’s long-term development objectives.
He added that priority would be given to projects capable of attracting investment, promoting trade, improving connectivity, strengthening security, and expanding access to quality social services.
Senator Alli therefore urged all residents of Oyo State to remain vigilant, engaged, and committed to the collective responsibility of building a better state.
He expressed confidence that through responsible leadership, transparent governance, and active citizenship, Oyo State would achieve sustainable development and ensure prudent management of public resources for the benefit of present and future generations.
