Just In: Oyo Govt Lifts Curfew Imposed On 10 Local Government Areas

The Oyo State Government has suspended the curfew imposed on 10 Local Government Areas, following the recent kidnapping of Students and Teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of the State.

In a statement issued on Saturday by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, the government had earlier imposed a 16-hour curfew on the affected communities and Local Government Areas bordering Old Oyo National Park, as part of efforts to restore peace and strengthen security before extending it by an additional day on Thursday.

Prince Oyelade noted in the statement that, residents of the affected Local Government Areas could now resume their normal daily activities.

The Government appreciated the people for their cooperation, patience and understanding throughout the period of the restriction.

The Commissioner assured residents that the State Government is closely monitoring the security situation and reaffirmed its commitment to working with security agencies to bring the kidnapping incident to a successful conclusion.
