The Acclaimed Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, PFIPC , Mr.Adeniyi Adeyemi, has been arrested.
He was arrested in Osun State by the Nigeria Police Force, Osun State Command following the warrant of his arrest issued by the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The command’s spokesperson, Mr. Abiodun Ojelabi who disclosed this to Newsmen, said Mr. Adeyemi was arrested in his hideout in Osun by operatives of the Intelligence Response Team from Abuja.
Mr Ojelabi explained that the suspect is expected to be transferred to Abuja soonest.
Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered Mr. Adeyemi’s arrest when he failed to appear for arraignment on an eight-count charge bordering on conspiracy, forgery and impersonation.
The prosecution alleged that Mr. Adeyemi operated the purported Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, an organisation the Presidency has disclosed does not exist.
Justice Umar rejected the defence’s argument that Adeyemi stayed away from court because he feared for his life and ordered that he be arrested and brought before the court.
The matter has been adjourned till 30th September, 2026 for arraignment.
