As eligible voters in Osun State prepare to cast their votes for candidates of their choice in the August 15th Governorship election, the coordinator of the Osun State National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Mr. Ekeng Ita Kubiangha has debunked as false reports alleging that corps members are being paid ₦50,000 to influence the election.
Mr. Kubiangha made the disclosure on Friday in a statement by the NYSC spokesperson, Mrs Catherine Otemuyiwa.
Mr Kubiangha said the purported online publication should be regarded as misleading and one without factual basis, noting that no Corps member will be involved in such.
He explained that corps members are constantly enlightened and reminded to be politically neutral and to comply strictly with the provisions of the NYSC Act, the scheme’s Bye-Laws and all applicable electoral rules and regulations.
The Osun state NYSC Coordinator maintained that the scheme had consistently sensitised corps members on the need to reject inducements and maintain impartiality during wherever they are assigned for election duties.
Calling on members of the public to disregard the report, Mr. Kubiangha charged media organisations to be objective in their reportage and make take all necessary steps to verify the sources of their Information before publication.
