President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Thursday for Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to perform Umrah, an Islamic spiritual pilgrimage to the Holy City.
According to a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, the visit will provide President Tinubu an opportunity for spiritual reflection, devotion and prayers for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability and continued progress.
While in Makkah, the President is expected to perform the religious rites associated with Umrah and seek Allah’s guidance and blessings for Nigeria and its citizens.
Before departing the country, the statement says, President Tinubu will commission equipment acquired by the Nigerian Air Force to strengthen its operational capacity.
The commissioning ceremony will take place at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, ahead of the President’s departure for Saudi Arabia.
President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria next week after completing the spiritual exercise.
