Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has insisted that he remains in the presidential race, declaring that no court ruling, political pressure or intimidation will force him to abandon the contest.
Alhaji Abubakar stated this in a message addressed to Nigerians, following a recent court ruling, insisting that the decision should not be mistaken for the will of the people.
He maintained that he would be on the ballot, stressing that Nigerians must be allowed to freely decide the country’s political future.
The former Vice President accused those in power of deploying political pressure, manufactured narratives, courtroom manoeuvres and attempts to compromise the voters’ register through AI-generated photographs, false names and fictitious identities to weaken the opposition.
He also criticised the administration’s handling of the economy, citing the removal of fuel subsidy, decline of the Naira, rising food prices, closure of factories and small businesses, as well as the continued insecurity across the country.
According to him, Nigerians are experiencing increasing hardship, with feeding becoming a daily struggle for many families, while young people continue to leave the country in search of better opportunities.
He urged his supporters not to lose hope or retreat, describing their votes as their power to bring about the desired change.
The former Vice President further declared that he would resist every attempt to turn Nigeria into a one-party state, maintaining that the country belongs to all Nigerians and that democracy must accommodate multiple political parties and voices.
Alhaji Abubakar challenged those in power to present their records before Nigerians and allow a free, fair and credible electoral contest.
He assured his supporters that his campaign would continue, particularly on issues surrounding the rising cost of living.
Former President Atiku Abubakar concluded by saying “Bola cannot use the courts to escape the judgment of Nigerians at the ballot box”
