Court Okays PDP National Convention To Hold in Ibadan

Justice Ladiran Akintola of Oyo State High Court has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, should go ahead with its National Convention, scheduled for the 15th and 16th of November, 2025.

Justice Ladiran Akintola, gave the ruling on Tuesday while presiding over the case brought before the court by Folahan Malomo Adelabi.

The suit, numbered I/1336/2025, named the PDP, its Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, and the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, among others, as defendants.

In his ruling , Justice Akintola granted all the interim orders requested by the claimant, preventing the party or its agents from disrupting or delaying the planned convention.

The judge further ordered that the PDP leadership adhere to its earlier timetable and guidelines for the event.

It further ruled that the convention must take place as scheduled in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, pending the hearing of the substantive motion.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, was directed to attend, monitor, and observe proceedings in accordance with the Electoral Act.

Justice Akintola noted that the claimant had shown sufficient reason for urgent judicial intervention and commended the transparency demonstrated in filing both an ex parte motion and an interlocutory application.

The case has now been adjourned until the 10th of November for further hearing.
