Protest Rocks APC Ijesa North Federal Constituency Over Endorsement Of Wole Oke

Tension rose in parts of Ijesa North Federal Constituency as some members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, staged a protest over the endorsement of the lawmaker representing the constituency, Wole Oke, ahead of the 2027 general election.

The protesters, who gathered shortly after the party leadership announced the endorsement, expressed dissatisfaction with the decision, insisting that the process did not reflect the wishes of all stakeholders within the constituency.

Carrying placards with different inscriptions, the aggrieved party members called on the APC leadership to rescind its position. They maintained that fairness and political balance should be considered in deciding who represents the constituency in the next election.

One of the protesters, who spoke on condition of anonymity, argued that it was the turn of Oriade Local Government to produce the next member of the House of Representatives for the constituency.

According to him, power rotation within the area would promote unity and inclusiveness among party members.

The demonstrators also appealed to Mr. Oke, who hails from Esa-Oke in Obokun Local Government Area, to step aside and allow another aspirant from Oriade Local Government to emerge as the party’s candidate for the 2027 polls.
