A member of the Oyo State House of Assembly representing Atiba State Constituency and Chief Whip of the House, Hon Gbenga Oyekola, has expressed delight over the safe release of the students and teachers who were kidnapped from Schools in Oriire Local Government Area of the State
Hon Oyekola expressed his heartfelt happiness in a Statement made available to Newsmen in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital.
He described the release of the victims as a huge relief to their families, the affected communities, and the entire State, noting that the development marks the end of several days of anxiety while they were in captivity.
The Lawmaker who gave gratitude to God for preserving the lives of the victims, commended all the security agencies, the Oyo State Government under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, and every stakeholder who contributed immensely to securing their release.
Hon Oyekola, however, lauded the resilience, understanding, and cooperation of people of Atiba State Constituency throughout the period of the security challenges, especially during the government-imposed curfew on 10 Local Government Areas, including Atiba Local Government, surrounding Old Oyo National Park.
According to him, the patience and law-abiding conduct displayed by our people in Atiba Local Government played a significant role in maintaining peace and supporting security operations aimed at ensuring the safe return of the abducted victims.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could help prevent future security threats.
The Oyo State House of Assembly Chief Whip reaffirmed his commitment to the safety and welfare of his constituents, expressing hope that necessary measures would be collectively put in place towards achieving lasting peace and improved security across the State.
