Osun State Acquires Farm Implement To Boost Agriculture

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke says his administration is committed to boost the living standard of the people through enhanced agriculture sector.

Governor Adeleke stated this at the unveiling of tractor and distribution of farm inputs held at the Agricultural Input Supply Unit, Aisu, Ede, Osun State.

Out of the 110 tractors acquired by the by the government, thirty one has been delivered and unveiled for use by farmers.

The Governor, explained that the 31 newly purchased tractors with full implements would be released to farmers cooperative societies and associations after all necessary administrative procedures have been concluded.

He assured provision of all necessary infrastructure and resources to enhance agricultural production and ensure food security for the people.

“At this juncture, it is my honour and privilege to the Glory of God and for the benefit of the good people of my beloved Osun State, that I unveil these farm inputs with the hope that it will serve as humble beginning for the agro-industrial development of the State in line with the 5-Point Action Plan of this Administration”.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Otunba Tola Faseru, had noted that Osun State is purely an agrarian society, endowed with fertile land, supportive weather and human resources to leverage on agriculture for attaining food security.

While commending the support of the Federal Government in the release of various brands of fertilizer, NK & Urea, the Commissioner assured that the state would improve on its collaboration with the Federal Government on National Agricultural Land Clearing Programme and input supply as well as other Programmes for the purpose of attaining food security and employment generation in the State.

Otunba Faseru added that a cheque of a sum of eight million six hundred thousand naira will be presented to each poultry farmer participating in the Osun Broiler Outgrower Production Scheme, OBOPS, to raise two thousand day-old broiler birds to table size within six weeks.

The farm inputs distributed include 6,000 herbicides, 80,000 cashew seedlings, 8,000 cassava stems, 8,000 various vegetable seeds and 500 bags of Lime to farmers, women associations, people living with disabilities and government schools with large farmlands.
