United Kingdom Partners Ogun State On Human Development

The determination of the current administration in Ogun State to revamp the state’s economy through public-private partnerships ,PPP,received a significant boost this week, as the United Kingdom expressed interest in partnering with the state government in manufacturing, agriculture, and human development.

 

The partnership aims to strengthen economic growth by attracting foreign investments, fostering job creation, and improving the quality of life for the people of the state.

 

During a courtesy call at Okemosan, Abeokuta, Governor Dapo Abiodun welcomed a delegation led by the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Richard Montgomery. The Governor emphasized that Ogun State is open to foreign investments and highlighted the proposed five billion dollar used battery recycling manufacturing company as a significant development.

 

According to the Governor, the project would create numerous job opportunities, increase the state’s internally generated revenue ,IGR, and enhance living standards.

 

Governor Abiodun praised the British government for its continued support to the state and noted that the battery recycling company aligns with Ogun State’s efforts to address environmental pollution.

 

The Governor highlighted the transformation of Ogun State through infrastructure development, positioning the state as a prime destination for investors.

 

He assured that the government would provide the necessary logistics to ensure the success of the partnership, which would benefit both the state and the country.

Governor Abiodun also pointed out that Ogun State’s wealth of natural resources, including its status as the home of Nigeria’s largest cement factory and its leading role in agriculture, make it an attractive investment destination.

 

In his remarks, British High Commissioner Mr. Richard Montgomery commended Governor Abiodun for the initiatives that have positively changed the state.

 

He explained that the visit aimed to support the state’s developmental agenda through financial advisory services and by encouraging UK investors to explore the opportunities presented by Ogun State’s abundant resources.
