Investors In Agriculture Appeal For Improved Security For Farmers

Government at all levels have been urged to intensify more efforts at curbing the insecurity affecting farmers and put more funds into Agriculture Sector in the Country for food sufficiency.
An investor in livestock and crop farming, Chief Executive Officer, Kayrom Lee Group of Companies, Ambassador Romoke Ayinde made the call while speaking during the official opening of BCOS Greens Exhibition at BCOS open ground, Bashorun, Ibadan,Oyo State.
Ambassador Ayinde maintained that, farmers were investing huge amount of money into the Agriculture, but the issue of protection of the farms and Workers from being attacked by destructive elements should be given Priority by the government through provision of more Agro Rangers Security Outfits.
Declaring the Greens Exhibition open, the Oyo State Commissioner for Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development, Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye, applauded Governor Seyi Makinde for supporting farmers through the provision of fertilizers, improved seeds, and farm implements aimed at enhancing food security in the State.
He added that the State Government had trained 480 Forest Rangers from Amotekun Corps with a view to ending the reported cases of attacks by some suspected herders.
The Commissioner commended the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State for the laudable Exhibition to showcase farm produce and sell to the public at reduced prices.
Earlier, Chairman of the Corporation, Mrs. Dotun Olaitan, emphasized that the exhibition was an opportunity for the public to access fresh produce at lower prices and to encourage more involvement in agriculture, advising people to practice subsistence farming in their yards.
In a goodwill message, the Chairman, Oyo State House of Assembly Committee on Agriculture, Mr. Peter Ojedokun, said, House had been supporting the Executive Arm in its efforts to enhance security and safeguard farmers across the State.
Some of the Exhibitors including Kayrom Lee Farms who displayed and sold Direct PalmOil from the farm expressed their appreciation to the BCOS for the opportunity to reach a broader audience and showcase their farm produce.
The event also had in attendance, Chairman of the 2024 BCOS Greens Exhibition Mr Ademola Adeniyi, other Members of the Exhibition Committee, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Mrs Christianah Abioye, Baale Agbe and others.
