No Child Would Be Born With HIV In Ekiti,Gov Oyebanji Assures Residents

The Ekiti State Government has announced plans to establish HIV Testing Services across all 16 local government areas to eliminate mother-to-child transmission of HIV/AIDS, ensuring treatment and comprehensive support services for affected residents.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji stated this while playing host to the Director-General of the National Agency for the Control of Aids, NACA, Dr Temitope Ilori and her team during a courtesy visit to the Governor’s office in Ado- Ekiti.

He also promised to rejig and strengthen the Local Action Committee on Aids, LACA at the local government level in the drive to ensure that the grassroots are safe against the disease.

Mr Oyebanji equally assured Ekiti residents that he would ensure that no child is born with the virus and to reduce the HIV/AIDS prevalence in the state through effective collaboration with NACA and other stakeholders in the health sector.

Earlier, the Director-General of NACA, Dr Temitope Ilori lamented the huge burden of children born with HIV/AIDS through transmission from mother to child and stressed the urgent need to end the menace of paediatric HIV in every part of the country.
