President Tinubu Reiterates Commitment To Harmonious Relationship Between Executive, Legislative Arms…..Describes Late Ajimobi As True Democrat

President Bola Tinubu has restated his Administration’s determination to forge a harmonious relationship between the Executive and Legislative Arms of Government in the best interest of the people.
He made this known during the 7th Annual Senator Abiola Ajimobi Roundtable and his 75th Posthumous Birthday organised by Senator Abiola Ajimobi Foundation, SAAF, in conjunction with the Institute for Peace and Strategic Studies, University of Ibadan, Oyo State.
President Tinubu who was represented by the Director-General, Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolutions, IPCR, Dr. Joseph Ochogwu said, despite the occasional tensions in the Country, the present administration still recognized that effective governance was a shared responsibility through collaboration rather than confrontation.
The President described Late Senator Abiola Ajimobi as a true democrat who served the Nation diligently till he had his last breath, adding that, his contributions to the Nation’s Democracy could not be underestimated.
In a Keynote Address on the topic “Legislative Oversight in Nigeria: Challenges and Prospects”, Leader of the Senate, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele maintained that, the Legislators understood the concerns of their Constituents through public engagement, stressing that, they would continue to work with the Executive Arm of Government to make Nigeria better and greater.
On his part, Leader of the House of Representatives who also presented the Lead Paper, Professor Julius Ihonvbere said, standard tracking mechanisms should be established between various Committees in the National Assembly and their relevant Agencies for proper monitoring of the implementation of oversight visits .
Speaking, the Wife of Late Senator Abiola Ajimobi and the President of Senator Abiola Ajimobi Foundation, Mrs Florence Ajimobi commended all the stakeholders for supporting the Programme since the demise of her husband, adding that, his legacy would continue to linger in the hearts of the people.
In attendance were, Children and Family of late Senator Abiola Ajimobi, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Alhaji Abdullah Ganduje, Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, APC stalwart in Oyo State, Prince Niran Adeyoju, Chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, Mr. Zaccheus Adedeji, Former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan, Former Deputy Governor Moses Adeyemo, Political Associates, Erudite Scholars among others.
The Roundtable Programme began in 2018 while Senator Abiola Ajimobi was the Governor of Oyo State and continued till date four years after his demise.
Former Governor Abiola Ajimobi died in 2020 and this year’s Roundtable marked the 7th Edition.
