Just In: Court Grants Dele Farotimi Bail

Human Rights Activist, Dele Farotimi has been granted bail in the sum of thirty million naira with two sureties by a magistrate Court sitting in Ado Ekiti.
Farotimi is facing trial over alleged defamation case instituted by a legal luminary Aare Afe Babalola.
The suspect is facing a sixteen count charge for allegedly defaming Afe Babalola in his book titled “Nigeria and its criminal justice system where he claimed that the legal icon corrupted the judiciary.
The presiding magistrate, Abiodun Adesodun held that, Farotimi should deposit his International passport with the court.
Farotimi had been brought court in company of officers from the rapid response squad of the Ekiti State police command and officials of the Nigeria Correctional service.
He is also facing a Twelve count charge at the Federal High court, Ado Ekiti where he was earlier granted bail in the sum of 50 million naira.
The court has adjourned the case till the 13th of February next year.
