Rehoboth Football Academy Emerges Champions of 2024 Oyo State GSM U-20 Football Championship

Rehoboth Football Academy of Ibadan have been crowned champions of the maiden edition of Governor Seyi Makinde U-20 Football Championship after defeating AFRAS Football Academy of Iseyin 3-1 at Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan on Monday, 30th December, 2024.

Organized by the Oyo State Football Association under the able leadership of Alakinyele of Akinyele, His Royal Highness, Oba (Dr) James Oluyemi Odeniran JP FIFA Rtd and sponsored by the Peculiar Ultimate Concerns Limited has affirmed that the competition will be an annual event for the next 5 years. It would be recalled that their sustained impact in building youths across the federation is noticeable for the blind to ear having sponsored teams like Edo Queens, Igbajo FC, Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan (3SC), Ile Ogbo FC and the likes.

Five weeks of football across the geo political zones of Oyo state was concluded in Ibadan with close range Football artistry from both sides as Rehoboth overcome hard fighting AFRAS

Present at the final were the Commissioner of youths and Sports, Honourable Wasilat Adefemi Adegoke represented by Director of Sports Facility at the Ministry of Youth & Sports, Mr Raheem Fatai, Miss Mariam Adeola Salawu of Peculiar Ultimate Concerns Limited, Chairman, Shooting Stars Sports Club, 3SC, Honourable Olaniyan David Akoro, the immediate past Chairman, Oyo State Sports Council, Honourable Gbenga Adewusi (aka Arole), Legendary Felix Owolabi, immediate past GM Sports Council, Gboyega Makinde,
Mutiu Adepoju, a former Super Eagles captain, Country Manager of LaLiga in Nigeria and Professor Dele Ladipo of Human Kinetics and Health Education University of Ibadan, Oyo State Referee Council Chairman among others.

Muhibbat Football Academy of Iseyin piped Ana Football Academy of Ibadan 2-1 to claim the third place prize.

Trophy and medals were presented to the winners by the dignitaries present as diminutive winger, Godwin Thomas from AFRAS Football Academy from Iseyin emerged Most Valuable Player while Kareem Basheet of Rehoboth Football Academy won the highest goal scorers. Best Referee award went to Kingsley Idama. Excellency award was given to the Executive Governor of the State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, received by the representative of the Commissioner while other awards went to the Commissioner for Youth & Sports and Peculiar Ultimate Concerns Limited. Best Goalkeeper award went to Ajani Hassan while Oluwafemi won the Best coach of the Championship. Babatunde Yewande both of Rehoboth Football Academy.
