Fire Destroys Goods Worth Five Hundred Million Naira

Property worth about five hundred million naira have been destroyed by fire in Igede Ekiti, Irepodun Ifelodun Local government area of Ekiti State.
Report has it that some unscrupulous elements took advantage of the early morning fire outbreak to loot many shops which were not even affected by the inferno.
The fire incident allegedly caused by power surge razed motorcycle spare parts , drinks, provisions, electronics, fruits and food items shops as well as Hair dressing salon.
Some of the victims were a owner of provisions store, Mr Chinedu Joseph, an Hair dresser, Mrs Ayodele Elebute, Electronics and Electrical Appliances seller, Eke Simon, Motor parts seller and Odunayo Oluwafemi .
One of the Victims, Mr Chinedu Joseph, who was visibly trembling, claimed that over four hundred million naira goods were lost to the fire incident.
Others who spoke called on government to urgently come to their aid, saying that they took loan from commercial banks and cooperative societies to set up their businesses.
Sympathizing with the victims, the Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Chief Monisade Afuye appreciated God that no life was lost in the incident.
While promising Government succour, Chief Afuye directed Ekiti State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA to take enumeration of those affected by the fire in order to ascertain the amount and property lost.
The Onigede of Igede Ekiti, Oba James Aladesuru thanked the state government for prompt intervention and called for immediate relief materials and Money for the victims to cushion the effect of the disaster.
The Director, Ekiti State Fire Service, Mr. Andrew Famosaya who conducted the Government team round the site of the incident, said they could not ascertain the factor responsible for the early morning fire outbreak which consumed many property and goods.
