NOA Cautions Nigerians Against Outbreak Of Lassa Fever, Other Seasonal Diseases

The National Orientation Agency, NOA, has cautioned people against the outbreak of seasonal diseases such as Meningitis, Lassa Fever, Cholera and Measles, sensitising them on how to prevent them in the society.
The Agency in a bid to intensify its integrated preventive campaign against the seasonal but infectious diseases organised a Sensitisation and Public Enlightenment Campaign against the Seasonal diseases at its Oyo State Headquarters, Agodi, Ibadan.
While Speaking at the Programme which was well attended by various Stakeholders like Health Educators, Religious Leaders, Market Men and Women, Youths and other relevant groups, the Director General, National Orientation Agency, NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu who represented by the Director, Health and Social Care in the Agency, Dr. Olufemi Ayoola said, People needed to take some preventive measures such as personal and environmental hygienes, regular washing of hands and safe preservation of food to reduce the spread of any infectious disease.
In their separate contributions, Oyo State Health Promotion Officer, Mr Olaoye Olarinde and the State Epidemiologist, Dr. Iyabo Kareem stressed the need for people to eat adequate diet for healthy living, adding that, there is need for people to embrace cleanliness and regular visitation to the health facility for check ups, test and treatment to prevent escalation of any disease.
Two of the participants, Director of Trailblazer Initiative, Mr Dare Adaramoye and the Iyaloja of Ibadanland, Alhaja Iswat Amiringun enjoined people to prioritize their health, saying health is wealth.
They promised to spread the campaign to other group of people in the society.
Earlier, Oyo State Director, National Orientation Agency, NOA, Dr Olukemi Afolayan said, the Programme was to sensitise the public on the need to prevent some diseases through immunisation for children and embracing healthy living in the society.
