Governor Abiodun Commissions 3.12-kilometer Oke-Erinja-Ilobi Road

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun,has announced that his administration has successfully constructed approximately 1,000 kilometers of roads since taking office in 2019.
The governor made this statement during the commissioning of the 3.12-kilometer Oke-Erinja-Ilobi road in Yewa South Local Government Area. He assured residents that his government is committed to extending the road to Ilobi, emphasizing its importance for the local economy and quality of life.
The governor explained that his administration’s focus is not limited to urban renewal but extends to the construction of rural roads, which play a critical role in supporting the agricultural sector. He stressed the importance of connecting rural farmers to markets to ensure food security.
“Ogun State is largely agrarian, with about 12,000 square kilometers of arable land,” Abiodun remarked. “Our farmers are the backbone of the food supply chain. To unlock their potential and boost food security, we must prioritize the construction of roads that link them to markets.”
He further acknowledged that the Ilobi and Oke-Erinja areas are vital agricultural hubs within the state and affirmed that the road’s construction would directly benefit local farmers. Addressing concerns about the road’s completion, the governor reassured the community that the project would extend all the way to Ilobi, reflecting his commitment to their development.
Governor Abiodun also announced that the construction of the Sango-Ijoko-Akute road would be awarded later in the week. He emphasized that completing this 17-kilometer arterial road would complement ongoing efforts on roads like Akute-Ajuwon, Alagbole-Ajuwon, Giwa-Oke-Aro, and Alagbole-Akute, which are crucial for connectivity in the region.
“We have not overlooked our border communities,” the governor added. “The Sango-Ijoko-Akute road will link Ogun West to Ogun Central and Lagos, providing significant relief to commuters and enhancing regional connectivity.”
Additionally, the governor shared updates on other major infrastructure projects, including the reconstruction of the Ota-Ifo-Abeokuta road, which will benefit Ogun West, and the ongoing Agbara-Atan-Lusada road project. He also revealed that he would soon inspect the Inter-Change-Papalanto-Obelle road, which is being developed with tax credits alongside Alhaji Aliko Dangote.
Governor Abiodun however expressed his appreciation to the Olu of Ilaro, the Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas, and other community leaders for their support in making the road project a success. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering on its promises to the people of Ogun State.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure,Mr Ade Akinsanya, highlighted that the newly reconstructed Oke-Erinja-Ilobi road would significantly improve accessibility to the Nigeria Police Training College and promote the overall development of the community and state. He noted that the road had previously been in a state of disrepair, and its reconstruction would provide much-needed relief to the local population.
The Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, also praised Governor Abiodun for his continued focus on the development of Ogun West. The monarch urged the governor to extend the road from Erinja to Ilobi, a move that would further stimulate growth in the region.
