Tragedy : Headmistress Dies During Retirement Ceremony In Osun

A retired headmistress, Mrs. Bello Dupe Omowumi, has tragically collapsed and died during her retirement ceremony held at the School for the Physically Challenged, Enu Odi, Ilesa, last Wednesday.

Mrs. Bello, who was described by colleagues and students as diligent and devoted, had just concluded a long and distinguished career in education.

Her retirement ceremony was set to be a celebration of her years of service, but the event ended in shock and mourning.

She had only recently stepped down from her position as headmistress of the school, where she had served with commitment and passion.

The ceremony,held on the school premises was attended by staff, students, community members, and friends.

Witnesses reported that Bello who was evidently joyful,arrived at the venue, dancing and rejoicing.

The witness said the deceased developed some signs  of distress few minutes after she was accompanied to the high table by her husband.

“She looked tired, like she was gasping for breath, people rushed to help immediately. First aid was administered immediately, but when her condition did not improve, she was quickly taken to the nearby Private Hospital where she was subsequently referred to Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa. Unfortunately,she was declared Brought In Dead at Wesley Guild Hospital.”Witness said.

Meanwhile,the incident has left the entire school community in a mournful mood,as colleagues, friends and students found it hard to get off what they described as a rude shock.
