Oyo State Police Clarify Boko Haram Video Rumors
Written by News Desk on April 29, 2025
The Oyo State Police Command has addressed concerns surrounding a circulating video allegedly depicting an attempted invasion by Boko Haram elements.
After investigation, authorities determined the footage was actually recorded in 2022 and does not reflect any current threat to the state’s security.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, the video’s reappearance seems to be a deliberate attempt to spread misinformation and incite fear among residents.
Osifeso said in a statement that a retired police officer, DSP Segun Adeyemo, who featured briefly in the clip, had left the force in August 2024, submitting that the video is outdated.
The Police Command urges citizens to remain vigilant and cautious when sharing information online, emphasizing the importance of verifying facts through credible sources before dissemination. By doing so, residents can help prevent the spread of false information and maintain peace within the state.
