15 Years After: Ambassador Romoke Ayinde Remembers Sikiru Ayinde Barrister’s Legacy

As the World remembers the passing of a Nigerian Fuji Maestro, Dr. Sikiru Ayinde Barrister, 15 years after, an Ibadan-based Music Enthusiast and Admirer of Barrister’s style of music, Ambassador Romoke Ayinde, Kayrom Lee, has described him as a legend whose significant impact on the fuji music genre cannot be overemphasized.
Ambassador Ayinde made this known while celebrating the late Fuji Creator’s 15th year Remembrance in a statement made available to Journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital.
Kayrom Lee whose best musician remains Dr Sikiru Ayinde said, his style of Fuji was not only melodious, but teaches morals and full of lessons.
She maintained that the way the late Popular Ibadan-Born Musician wove words into songs with rich Yoruba language, including proverbs, idioms, and cultural facts made him a distinguished singer.
Ambassador Ayinde added that, late Dr Sikiru Ayinde Barrister could also be called a Scholar, with the way he recited Quran verses which was evident in almost all of his live and recorded Albums.
She enjoined all other fuji musicians to emulate the good virtues of late musician whose legacy still lives on many years after his demise, saying his songs were full of messages to all, irrespective of status, religious or political affiliations etc.
Ambassador Ayinde, however, appealed to the Government particularly, in the Southwest region, to immortalise Dr Sikiru Ayinde Barrister for his contributions to the Yorubaland and making the people proud.
Dr Sikiru Ayinde Barrister was born in Ibadan, Oyo State, joined Nigerian Army before venturing into Music, thereby creating “Wẹ́rẹ́” and Fuji music. He died on December 16, 2010 at the age of 62.
