Osun 2026: INEC Releases Names Of Eligible Political Parties, Candidates’ Particulars

Ahead of the August 8, 2026 Governorship Election in Osun State, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has released the names of eligible Political Parties, Personal particulars of Candidates and their Running Mates.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, in the State, Dr. Mutiu Agboke made the announcement in a statement by the Public Affairs Office, Mr. Musa Olurod in Osogbo.
The Statement reveals that 14 political parties had successfully submitted the names and required documents of their candidates within the designated timeframe.
The Statement reads “The political parties that validly uploaded the names and particulars of their candidates and their running mates as released by the Headquarters of the Commission, Abuja are: A, AA, AAC, ADC, ADP, APGA, APC, APM, APP, BP, NNPP, PRP, YPP, and ZLP. ”
“The submissions followed the conclusion of party primaries and the closure of the official portal for uploading candidates’ particulars,” the statement adds
It notes that the candidates’ details were verified in line with the constitutional and regulatory requirements before being published at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
The Osun State REC through the Statement urged Political Parties, Candidates, and Members of the Public to inspect the published documents as provided by law.
He reassured the electorate and all stakeholders of the INEC’s firm commitment to transparency, professionalism, and the conduct of credible elections in accordance with the law and best democratic practices.
The Fourteen (14) Political Parties with Governorship Candidates include, Accord , Action Alliance, African Action Congress, African Democratic Congress,, Action Democratic Party, All Progressive Grand Alliance, All Progressives Congress, Allied Peoples Movement, Action Peoples Party, Boot Party, New Nigeria Peoples Party, Peoples Redemption Party,Young Progressive Party, and Zenith Labour Party.
Meanwhile, The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and Labour Party, LP and the names of their candidates were missing on the list.
