OYRTMA Launches Special Patrol For Yuletide Season

Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) has launched a special patrol operation to ensure seamless traffic management and safety during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

This was made known by the OYRTMA chairman Major Adekoya Adesagba (rtd), on Tuesday at his office Secretariat, Ibadan.

According to the OYRTMA Executive Chairman, the operation commenced on Friday, December 20, 2024, and will end on Sunday, January 15, 2025.

The exercise will involve monitoring of motorists and other road users, including high and low capacity vehicles, to guarantee safety of lives and property on all major roads and corridors.

The special patrol operation will cover major highways and areas, including:

 

_Lagos/Ibadan Expressway_

_Apata/Omi/Abeokuta axis_

_Challenge/Dugbe/Mokola UI axis_

_Ojoo/Moniya/Akinyele/Oyo Expressway_

_Sango/Eleyele/Alesinloye axis_

_Iwo Road Interchange/Monatan/Olodo axis_

-Molete/Bere/Gate Bashorun/Akobo axis.

 

The operation will also involve collaboration with other road safety and security agencies, as well as community-based traffic management schemes, to ensure a shared responsibility for road safety.

Adekoya directed Zonal and Unit Commanders to ensure that OYRTMA operatives are presentable, civil, professional, fair, and firm in the discharge of their duties.

Maj. Adesagba commended the Oyo State Government for their efforts in maintaining safety and order within the state.

“As we celebrate the Yuletide season, I urge all residents of Oyo State to please abide by the rules and regulations put in place for their safety”, he said.

“Your cooperation is crucial in ensuring a peaceful and enjoyable holiday season for everyone. Let’s work together to make Oyo State a safer and more pleasant place to live,” he added.
