After 4 Days Protest, Gov. Makinde Finally Addresses Property Owners At Ibadan Circular Road Corridor

Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has assured property owners along Ibadan circular road corridor that government would maintain a 75-meter right and 75-meter left setback on the road and halt enumeration and demolition of houses within the 150-meter radius.
He gave the assurance while addressing the protesters who gathered at the entrance of Agodi Secretariat to express their dissatisfaction with the alleged extension of the setback from 150 meters to 500 meters.
Governor Makinde clarified that it was the previous administration that extended the setback, not his government.
The governor urged protesters to remain law-abiding and promised to integrate buildings outside the existing 150-meter corridor, while warning against new constructions within the corridor to allow for proper planning.
Governor Makinde also appealed to protesters to disperse, emphasizing the importance of peaceful demonstrations that do not infringe on others’ rights.
Responding,one of the affected resident Mr. Azeez Olaide requested that the governor adhere to the gazetted 150-meter setback and provide adequate compensation to residents along the Ibadan Circular Road corridor
It would be recalled that the protesters along the Ibadan Circular road corridor had protested to the Agodi Secretariat four times.
