Osun Government Reaffirms Commitment To Protect Rights Of Journalists

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke says his administration recognizes the importance to Press Freedom and remains committed to protect Journalist rights and safety.
Senator Adeleke gave the assurance during the presentation of awards to some distinguished members of the Society and some members of the union, as part of activities marking the Nigerian Union of Journalists NUJ, Osun State council, 2024 Press Week, held at NUJ Press Center, Iwo road, Osogbo.
The Governor represented by the Commissioner for Government House and Protocol, Mr. Soji Ajeigbe explained that his administration would not relent in supporting NUJ in promoting access to information.
While emphasizing that the role of the media is crucial to the Nation’s Democracy, Senator Adeleke urged them to be truthful in their reportage at all times.
In a remark, The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. Kolapo Alimi who described NUJ as a reputable Association congratulated the Awardees and urged them to sustain their support for the Union.
In his welcome address, the State Chairman, NUJ, Mr. Wasiu Ajadosu lauded the State Government and other Stakeholders for their support towards the sustainability of the Union.
Highlights of the event is the presentation of Awards to, the State Commissioner for Education, Mr. Adedipo Eluwole, CSP Folashade Odoro, Osun State NULGE President, Dr. Nathaniel Ogungbangbe, Dr. Adeleke Adeniyi of Omowunmi Continuous Education Center, Ede.
Among the Professional Award reciepients were; Mrs. Funmi Ojo (Best Environment Reporter of the Year ) of FRCN, Gold fm,Ilesa, Mrs. Mojisola Oladele ( Best Radio Reporter of the Year ) of FRCN, Gold fm ilesa, Mr.Tosin Oladokun of OSBC ( Parliamentary Reporter of the year),Mrs.Toyin Adeoye ( Chairman’s Award ) from the State Information Chapel, Mr. Sijuwade Adeshina ( Best Yoruba Newscaster of the year) of OSBC.
The event had in attendance,the Owaloko of Iloko ijesa, Oba Akeem Ogungbangbe, Vice Chancellor, Osun State University, Professor Clement Adegboye , The Vice President NUJ B Zone, Mrs Ronke Samo , Veteran Broadcasters and other distinguished personalities.
