Workers Hail Makinde, over N80,000 minimum wage

The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress in Oyo State, Kayode Martins, on Thursday, commended Governor Seyi Makinde for approving N80,000 minimum wage for workers.
The PUNCH reports that the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, announced in a statement, in Ibadan, on Wednesday, that the technical committee set up by the government recommended and got approval from the governor for the implementation of the new salary scale.
Martins, in an interview with journalists in Ibadan, on Thursday, described the approval as historic and a demonstration of magnanimity and care for the staffers.
“The governor has again shown that he is a listening person and a true trailblazer. It is the first time that state workers will be earning more than their federal workers counterparts.
