Traders Stranded As Fire Ravages Ibadan Market

Property worth millions of naira has been destroyed by fire in Moniya market in Akinyele Local Government area of Oyo State.
Report says the fire which started in the early hours of today is believed to have been triggered by a power surge.
No fewer than 18 shops were razed but no casualty was recorded .
Describing the incident as unfortunate, Babaloja of Moniya garage, Mr. Kolawole Balogun, said they were alerted by a security guard about the fire.
Some victims of the inferno, including Mrs. Yetunde Musa, Mr. Ajetunmobi Idowu, Mr. Olaide Badmus, Mr. Balogun Sulaimon, and Ajetunmobi Kolawole, appealed to the government at all levels to provide immediate support for those affected.
On a visit to the market,Chairman, Akinyele local government, Mr Wole Akinleye sympathised with the traders and also advised them to always ensure that all electrical appliances were put off before closing their shops to avoid a recurrence.
He assured the victims of financial support from the government ,adding that the government would also conduct sensitisation programme for traders on fire prevention.
