Olubadan-Designate Expected To Arrive Ibadan As Mourning Period For Oba Owolabi Olakunlehin Ends

Following the expiration of the 21-Day mourning for the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi-Olakulehin, the next Olubadan according to Ibadan Obaship ascension, who is currently the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, is expected in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, any moment from now.

The declaration of the mourning period was in accordance with an age-long tradition of Ibadanland.

Arangements have been concluded by the well-wishers to welcome Ọba Rashidi Ladoja back home at his Private Residence at Ondo Street, Bodija, Ibadan, with a funfair.

Meanwhile, the Ashipa Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi has visited the Olubadan-Designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja at his Lagos Residence to commiserate with him over the passing of the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi-Olakulehin.

Responding, Oba Ladoja appreciated the Ashipa Olubadan for the visit, describing late Oba Owolabi-Olakulehin as a revered Monarch who deserved to be mourned despite his ripe age, saying the late Monarch contributed immensely to Ibadan development.

Oba Ladoja also called on Ibadan sons, daughters and the entire residents to continue living in peace and harmony for more development of the ancient city.

It will be recalled that Oba Owolabi-Olakulehin who marked 90th birthday on July 5, 2025 with lined up activities to celebrate his first Coronation Anniversary on 12th of this month, joined his ancestors on early Monday morning of July 7, 2025.
