Osun 2026: Omisore Joins Governorship Race

Former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore has declared his intention to contest in the 2026 governorship election under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He made his intentions known on Saturday in a post shared on his official X account.
Omisore posted that he will formally declare his intentions on October 7, 2025, at the APC headquarters in Osogbo, the state capital.
According to him, the theme of the event would be “Fix the Broken, Restore Our Dreams.”
“I firmly believe that by working together, we can bring back hope, enhance governance, and create a brighter future for every son and daughter of Osun. This is not just my mission—it’s our shared goal.”
“I extend a humble invitation for you to join me in taking this bold step towards the Osun Rescue Mission 2026,” part of the statement read.”
“To the cherished citizens of Osun State, After careful consideration and extensive consultations, I have chosen to officially announce my intention to run for Governor of Osun State in 2026 as a candidate from our esteemed party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).”
Recall that Omisore had previously contested for the Governorship seat in Osun State under the Peoples Democratic party, PDP.
He was a member of the Senate between 2003 and 2011.
He recently served as the National Secretary of the APC between March 2022 and July 2023.
