Federal and State lawmakers from Osun State on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, have passed a vote of confidence on the State Governor and Guber Candidate of Accord in the August 8, 2026 governorship election, Senator Ademola Adeleke and endoresd him for second term in office.
This was disclosed in a communique signed by Senator Lere Oyewumi , Representing Osun West Senatorial District and issued to newsmen shortly after a meeting of the National and State Assembly members of the PDP, held in Osogbo.
The lawmakers explained that the endorsement became imperative considering the performance of the Governor in infrastructure development, workers’ welfare, healthcare, education, and democratic stability.
The Lawmakers also passed vote of confidence in the Chairman of the Party , Mr. Sunday Bisi, the State Working Committee, the leadership of the party in all the 30 Local Government and Area office, and the leadership of the party in all the 332 Wards in the state.
They emphasized that any individual or group parading themselves as alternative leadership does not have the backing of the duly elected National and State Assembly caucus of the party in Osun State and should not be accorded legitimacy.
The Legislators however frowned at the unlawful occupation of Local Government secretariats by All Progressive Congress, APC members whose elections were nullified by courts of competent jurisdiction and called on President Bola Tinubu to give a directive to the illegal occupants to vacate immediately to avert crises.
They reaffirmed their collective commitment towards constitutional order, legislative oversight, accountability in the management of public funds, and the protection of democratic institutions.
The Legislators urged residents of Osun State to remain peaceful, law abiding, and steadfast in the defence of democracy and good governance.
