Judge Withdraws From El-Rufai’s Case

Following the withdrawal of the Judge presiding over the former Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai’s fundamental human rights enforcement suit, the case file has been returned to the Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court for reassignment to another Judge.

The withdrawing judge is reported as Justice Hussaini Belgore.

With this withdrawal, proceedings in the fundamental rights case are on hold until the Chief Judge of FCT, reassigns it.

The suit, filed at the FCT High Court, challenges alleged violations of Mallam El-Rufai’s fundamental rights, including actions by agencies such as the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, notably an claimed unlawful invasion of his Abuja residence as well as involvement from other bodies like the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC and Department of State Services, DSS in ongoing legal matters against him.
