Just In: Mass Defection Rocks Osun As 25 PDP Lawmakers Move To Accord

In what can be described as a political shift, twenty-five Legislators including the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Prince Adewale Egbedun who were elected under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, have announced their defection to the Accord Party.

The lawmakers decision to defect to the Accord party followed the defection of the state governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke few months ago.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Osun State Speaker, Mr. Olamide Tiamiyu disclosed this in statement made available to newsmen today in Osogbo.

According to Tiamiyu , the lawmakers’ decision to defect to the party was reached during a meeting which was held at the Assembly Complex on Friday

The statement confirmed that the members had relinquished their membership from the PDP weeks ago following what they termed as deep reflection and extensive consultations with supporters, political associates and key stakeholders.

He said the lawmakers expressed the conviction that Accord party would provide a more stable, inclusive and people-centred platform through which they could continue to serve the people of Osun State.

The lawmakers maintained that the move was necessitated by a strong determination to move the collective interests of the people and to sustain various infrastructural development in Osun state.

The Lawmakers while enjoining their supporters and loyalists to join the moving train met with the Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke and top Accord leaders at the Government House to further affirm their strong commitment and determination to move the party forward.
