Just In: Court Nullifies PDP National Convention

Written by on January 30, 2026

A Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan has nullified the National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, held in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November fifteenth, twenty-twenty-five.

In the ruling delivered today, the court barred members of the Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee from parading themselves as national officers of the party.

The court further held that the Caretaker Committee led by Mohammed Abdulrahman, alongside Senator Samuel Anyanwu, remains the only recognised National Working Committee of the PDP, pending the conduct of a valid national convention.

The Ibadan convention had been preceded by sharp disagreements within the party over leadership, internal processes, and the legality of convening the gathering, with rival factions approaching the courts for intervention.

The ruling represents the latest development in the protracted leadership crisis rocking the opposition party.
