Osun 2026: Drama As Police Arrest SSG, 5 Others

The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of the Secretary to the State government of Osun State Teslim Igbalaye and five other individuals following a police operation at his residence in Osogbo.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Abiodun Ojelabi, the operation was carried out after the command received what it described as credible intelligence information indicating that a suspected criminal gang was operating around the Oroki Estate area of Osogbo.
The police said one of those arrested at the residence was Oladele Abiodun, a suspect reportedly on the command’s watchlist over alleged criminal activities.
The arrest, according to the police, formed part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on criminal activities in Osun State ahead of the state governorship election scheduled to hold on August 15.
During the operation, officers reportedly recovered N4,810,500 in cash, a Dynabook laptop, a photocopy machine, a printer, two Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and a voter register covering Wards 1 to 15.
The police noted that the items have been secured as exhibits for further investigation.
Other individuals arrested during the raid were identified as Akande Taiwo aged 60, Adeyemo Lukman aged 45; Olaoye Muftau, 50; and Aderemi Musliu, 40.
The command further disclosed that investigators are examining possible violations of the Electoral Act 2022, including allegations of voter inducement through the distribution of money or other incentives intended to influence voting decisions during the forthcoming election in the state.
