Just In: EFCC Freezes Osun Government Account
Written by News Desk on August 5, 2026
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has frozen Osun State Government account, barely 10 days to the Governorship election in the State.
The directive, signed by The Director of Investigation, EFCC, Adenike S. Babalola said the action was pursuant to Section 38 (1) & (2) of the EFCC Act, 2004 and Section 24 of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2023.
In a letter dated 8th August, 2026, the EFCC directed First Bank to place a “Post-No-Debit” on the account with number *2007170947*.
A “Post-No-Debit” instruction stops all withdrawals and debits from an account while allowing deposits, effectively freezing spending pending the outcome of investigations.
The development came few hours after Governor Ademola Adeleke alleged that the EFCC was planning to freeze the state’s accounts and those of top government officials.
